Hardware Solutions Engineers are responsible for fitting customer requirements with the most effective hardware solution to meet their needs. This position requires understanding of both heavy duty and light duty vehicles as well as how vehicle data will fit into the Telogis platform such that the customer can receive vehicle information and diagnostics. Hardware Solutions Engineers are expected to be able to research, develop, test and deploy new hardware solutions.
Responsibilities
Research GPS and vehicle diagnostic solutions.
Develop and suggest solutions based on customer vehicles and requirements.
Test hardware solutions by installing, doing in vehicle drive tests and recording results in a test management system.
Deploy hardware solution either via large scale installation projects or deployment of new configurations or firmware on vehicle hardware over the air.
Troubleshoot issues with solutions already in the field, suggest and implement solutions where necessary.
Learn and understand the Telogis software platform and suite of product offerings to assist with new hardware solutions.
Some travel will be required, primarily around Europe to support new and existing customers.
Keep up with the GPS and telematics market to stay current with potential new hardware solutions.
Requirements
Successful candidate must be knowledgeable with vehicle electronics and have working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols like J1939, CAN and J1708.
Experience with telematics and wireless GPS is a plus.
Experience with implementing hardware solutions on Heavy Duty and Light Duty vehicles is a plus.
Candidate must be willing to travel.
Candidate should have experience with large scale vehicle hardware installation projects.
